Canine Health

Do not be misled by breeders who do not do any genetic or health testing of their breeding stock because they believe that their breed is healthy and therefore there is no need to test.  Any dog of any breed, including mixed breeds, can have genetic defects.  No perfectly healthy breed exists without the potential of a genetic anomaly.  A responsible breeder will be knowledgeable about potential health problems in their breed and the recommended genetic tests available for their breed.
